Traveling in April with 7 year old son. Leaning toward Port Orleans due to smaller size. Which is recommended for a 7 year old, french quarter or riverside? He isn't into pirates:( Is either one more child-oriented? Thank you!

Hi Kristen! Thanks for directing your inquiry to the Disney World Moms Panel. I'll be happy to assist you with these questions. In the moderately priced resort category, you'll find Disney's Port Orleans Resort. Disney's Port Orleans Resort is comprised of sister resorts, Disney's Port Orleans Riverside (POR) and Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter (POFQ). Both resorts are wonderful options to consider for your stay. POR is a sprawling resort and therefore much larger than POFQ. Accommodations at POR are inspired by rural Louisiana. Some POR rooms are housed in plantation-style mansions on Magnolia Bend while those located in Alligator Bayou feature rustically decorated Cajun-style accommodations. Accommodations at POFQ are themed after the famed New Orleans French Quarter. The smaller POFQ consists of seven three-story guest-room buildings adjacent to the Sassagoula River. This resort features an exceptionally themed pool, Doubloon Lagoon. It sounds as though your would prefer a smaller resort. Therefore, I would recommend POFQ. When making reservations at POFQ, request Buildings 2 or 5. These buildings are closest to Doubloon Lagoon, the resort's main pool area. Please keep in mind that room requests are not guaranteed. However, Disney will try to accommodate your preferences based on the resort's occupancy and other factors. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Have a memorable visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
