I am traveling alone with my 9 year old in a couple weeks to disney world. I am going to try to get him on the pirates cruise from the grand floridan. Do adults attend this with the kids? If not what do you recommend I do while he is on the cruise?

Ahoy! The Pirate Adventure cruise which sets sail from the Grand Floridian is a "kid only" sailing. The kids have a grand time singing "Yo Ho" as they wave to those left on land.

My son really enjoys the pirate cruise which stops at neighboring "ports", serves a "brown bag" lunch and provides all pirates with keepsake treasures.

While your son sails the Seven Seas lagoon, I would suggest shopping or dining at the Grand Floridian. You might want to stop in the Basin store on the second floor to browse through the fragrant merchandise. A pedicure at the nearby spa would be great for Mom as well!

You might also want to find a quiet spot on the veranda to enjoy breakfast or read a book. My husband and I usually have breakfast at Gasparilla's take-out restaurant and enjoy our meal outside while enjoying the view of Cinderella Castle. Then, we go shopping, relax in the lobby and walk the Grand Floridian's beautiful grounds.

I hope you both enjoy your activities!
