We travel to WDW in a large, multigenerational group (13 ppl) . We typically rope drop to close but it has become too much for grandparents. We need ideas for fun activities for our large group that don’t involve parks.

    Greetings, Michelle!

Welcome to planDisney, and hooray, you’re going to Walt Disney World! I just love traveling with all of our family members whenever they can join us. We are a military family, so any additional family time we can get, we will take, especially if it’s during a Disney Vacation.

We recently brought my dad along for a visit, and grandpa needed a lot of breaks throughout the day. So we took advantage of those sit-down dining reservations! It was the perfect way to be immersed in the magic of Disney and rest in a cool and air-conditioned restaurant. This is an option you all have both inside and outside of the theme parks. We favor Sanaa and ‘Ohana as our ‘out of the theme park’ restaurants. Both offer a great environment and delicious food. If you dine at ‘Ohana, you can also enjoy a monorail ride post-dinner so that you can explore the other monorail resorts.

Another option is checking the lobby of your Disney Resort for any fun resort activities they may be offering during your stay. Some of the resort activities my family has enjoyed are the bonfires and movies under the stars, usually next to the pool areas. We are morning people, so those evening activities usually require a midday power nap so that we can fully enjoy them. I also recommend checking the Enchanting Extras Collection to see if your party would be interested in doing something like that. My husband and son love the Fishing Excursions, so we usually try for one each trip. There are so many other great Enchanting Extras like Firework Cruises, poolside cabana rentals, or maybe even miniature golf! I recommend checking all those options out.

Michelle, there’s so much to do. I hope that these options are a great starting point for you and your family. If you find that some of these options leave you with additional questions, please ask away! I can’t wait for you all to enjoy everything Walt Disney World has to offer.

Have fun and see ya real soon,

    Shantel

Meet the Panelist: Shantel, Alabama

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
