Hi! For travel protection…how late can we cancel or reschedule if needed?

Welcome to planDisney, Kiranjoth! I can tell you're a planner like me, as I also like to know all my options if my existing reservations need to be altered or canceled. The cancellation window varies depending on the type of reservation you have, so let's take a peek at the terms and conditions provided by Disney.

Let's start by looking at room-only reservations. This booking is exactly what it sounds like: you've reserved a room but did not purchase theme park tickets as part of a vacation package. You will have paid a deposit equal to one night's stay at the time of booking in order to secure this reservation. This amount will be refunded if you cancel your trip 8 or more days prior to your arrival date. You can cancel or reschedule your trip online, or you can contact a friendly Cast Member in Hotel Reservations to make changes to your trip. If you do end up rescheduling your trip, just know that changes to travel dates are subject to availability and there may be a difference in price that you will need to cover.

If you purchased a vacation package that included a hotel stay and theme park tickets, you can cancel your trip up to 30 days prior to arrival to receive a refund of your deposit and other amounts paid. If you cancel between 2 and 29 days prior to arrival, you will forfeit your deposit but will be refunded other installments you may have paid toward your trip. For cancellations 1 day prior to arrival or for no-shows, the full price of the package will be forfeited.

If you opted to purchase Travel Insurance when booking, you will need to look at the policy coverage and limits, as they vary by state. You can also add this protection after booking, if available: simply navigate to your reservation on the Disney World website, click "Change Reservation," and choose "Add" next to "Travel Protection Plan."

You can see the terms and conditions for the type of reservation you have by checking the confirmation email you received at the time of booking. If you've misplaced the email, you can find the terms by adding a similar package or room-only reservation to your cart on the Disney World website and clicking the blue link near the Cart ID on the "Your Cart" page. That's what I did to verify this information for you!

I hope this helps you understand the ins and outs of changing or canceling your reservation, Kiranjoth! It is my sincere wish that you are able to travel on any and all reservations you currently hold without interruption, but I am glad that you are equipped with this knowledge should there be a need to alter or reschedule your plans. Come back and see us at planDisney for more planning assistance. It's our pleasure to help our fellow guests.

    Stay magical,
    Scott
