Ahoy there, Martene! Welcome aboard planDisney!
I'm sorry to hear that you are reaching out about canceling a cruise. Believe me, I'm all too familiar with canceling cruises over the past few years, and while it's never easy to decide to cancel, sometimes it just has to be done. I know that there's a range of emotions when it comes to changing course so drastically, it almost feels like high and low tide at the same time...which I suppose is slack tide, but I digress...
When it comes to the actual act of cancelling - travel agent or otherwise -
all requests must be made by contacting a crew member by phone. I know that recently, long hold times have made doing so a bit difficult, however, there really is no other heading to set your compass to. Now I've had luck at three different times during the day when trying to get through to a Disney Cruise Line crew member:
- Right when phone lines open at 8 a.m. Eastern.
- Around 10:30 a.m. - this seems to be right after the "first wave" of Guests is finished being helped but before the rush of calls right at lunchtime.
- About an hour before the phone lines close (around 9 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday)
While I still had to wait a few cycles of the hold music loop, knowing my cruise was cancelled correctly gave me a hope that calmer seas were on the horizon!
Oh! I nearly forgot:
Disney Cruise Line recently extended the relaxed cancellation schedule! For Guests booked in non-Suite and non-Concierge categories on sailings through December 31, 2022, the cancellation fee schedule has been temporarily relaxed to 59 days prior to sailing. seeing as the usual cancellation window without fees started around 119 days, this extension of the "Book with Confidence" policy is incredibly helpful!
I hope that gives you a bit more time to work with as you look to cancel your cruise, Martene. Thank you so much for sailing my way with your question! If you have any others as you continue your journey, please drop me another line here at planDisney!
Until then, sending a little faith, trust, and pixie dust to help you on your way.
Andrew
