What transportation is available to and from the airport

    Hello Melissa,

Your vacation will be here before you know it. Everyone must be starting to get excited as I'm sure you've talked about dining plans and park reservations. Now you just need to figure out how to get under that magical archway, signaling your vacation has begun!

Even without Magical Express, there are still a lot of options. You'll just need to choose what works best for you.

Shuttle services: There are a couple of shuttle services that are very similar to Magical Express. In fact, Mears (the company that ran Magical Express) now offers Mears Connect. It's basically the same service that you are used to. The main difference is that now there is a fee, and you need to book it through their site. Beginning in February there will also be another shuttle service, Sunshine Flyer.

Ride Share: A rideshare service like Uber or Lyft is an option that can take you directly to your resort without having to stop at other resorts along the way. If you have a large party or a lot of luggage, this might not be the best option, and you'll also want to make sure you can get car seats if that is something that you'll need.

Taxi: You can reserve a taxi in advance or just get one at the airport when you arrive. Some taxis seat up to 9 people, so this could be a good option for a larger party.

Private Car Service: You may want to look into private car services. They are often more affordable than you might think, usually include car seats if needed, and your driver will often make a complimentary stop at a convenience store if you want to purchase water, snacks, sunscreen, or other toiletries on the way to your resort.

Rental Car: There are tons of rental car options. While it's more expensive, it does offer you the freedom to easily get from your resort to another resort for dining reservations. Sometimes in those situations Disney transportation can be tricky and time consuming to navigate, with multiple stops or transfers.

So while you have to do a bit of planning and deciding, you have the ability to choose from a variety of options to get to Walt Disney World and start that magical vacation.

    Hope this helps.

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
