Crescenzo from NJ Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Can I use transferred points to purchase a sorcerers pass as a DVC member? I do meet the qualifications using my contracted points but would rather use some transferred points.

    Howdy, Crescenzo!

Welcome Home and welcome to planDisney! Thank you for moseying by with your question.  Crescenzo, it sounds like you are inquiring about the Magic Member Beyond option for eligible Disney Vacation Club Members.  As a Member for the last 22 years, I am so excited about the extra pixie dust this new option offers.  Maximizing the magic of Membership just got a whole lot easier!

Crescenzo, I contacted Member Services twice to inquire about using your Disney Vacation Points to purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass. There isn't anything that clearly states whether Transferred Points can or can't be used to purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass. However, the Disney Vacation Club FAQs note that Restricted Points can't be used and Transferred Points have some restrictions.

The last Cast Member I chatted with noted that to use Vacation Points for the Disney Sorcerer Pass, only Direct Purchase contracts can be used for it (restricted contracts are not able to be used.) When points are transferred, DVC Cast Members can't tell whether they are from a Direct Purchase contract or not, which is why she concluded that Transferred Points likely can't be used to purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass.

Purchasing the Disney Sorcerer Pass with cash is only available to eligible Disney Vacation Club Members, or Members who are eligible for Member Extras.  So it makes sense that the same is true for using Vacation Points for this transaction.

Any Vacation Points placed in a Holding account also cannot be used to purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass.  These points have to be used by the end of a Member's Use Year and within 60 days of the booking.  With these requirements, they can't be used to purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass.

But good news, Crescenzo! The Cast Members were able to confirm that all Banked, Borrowed, and/or current Use Year Vacation and Reservation Points - as well as One-Time-Use Points (including Bonus One-Time Use Points,) can be used to purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass.

If you are thinking of purchasing the Member Magic Beyond option, it is such a tremendous value. For $99, you have many added benefits including the option to use Vacation Points to purchase the Sorcerer Pass, specially priced multi-day weekday theme park tickets, a 30-day Memory Maker package, fee waivers for booking Disney Collection Resorts and experiences and so much more.  Keep in mind these benefits are subject to change, but these offerings make Disney Vacation Club even more flexible and affordable!

I would recommend calling Member Services if you are interested in purchasing the Disney Sorcerer Pass with your Vacation Points, Crescenzo.  These Cast Members are magical with their knowledge and ability to wave their magic wands to make your vacation dreams come true.  They will also be able to assist you with making the Points exchange to purchase the Disney Sorcerer Pass using your available Vacation Club Points.

I hope this is helpful for you, Crescenzo.  If you have more Disney Vacation Club questions, don't be a stranger - knock on my door! I'm always happy to help a fellow Disney Vacation Club neighbor.

    Magically Yours,
    Keri
