Welcome to planDisney, Kay!
The fact that you have an old MagicBand tells me you're no stranger to the magic that lives and grows at Walt Disney World Resort. Just today we learned that the
popular nighttime spectaculars Happily Ever After in Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT Forever in EPCOT are returning on April 3. We also learned that the highly anticipated
TRON Lightcycle/Run opens on April 4. If April showers bring May flowers, then April openings bring a glorious bouquet of May magic.
MagicBands are nontransferrable so I'm afraid you won't be able to transfer an old MagicBand to another member of your Family and Friends list, Kay. The same goes for the new MagicBand+ designs, which is why I had my son wear his for a full day before linking it to his My Disney Experience account profile. He's normally not a fan of having things on his wrist, but he was determined to go bounty hunting in Batuu at
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.
I regret this is not the answer you hoped for, Kay. If the new member of your Family and Friends List is not interested in purchasing a new MagicBand or MagicBand+ design, other methods of park entry include a
Disney MagicMobile pass or admission card. Disney MagicMobile passes can be downloaded on the
My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the home page --> Disney MagicMobile) to eligible iPhones, Apple Watches, and Google Pay enabled Android phones. My husband prefers this option because it basically turns his Apple Watch into a MagicBand. Admission cards, which are roughly the size of credit cards, can be obtained at ticket windows located outside the entrance to each theme park. Be prepared to show confirmation of the ticket purchase, the payment method used to make the purchase, and a valid government-issued photo ID.
The newest member of your Family and Friends List is lucky to have a Fairy Godfriend like you, Kay. Please be sure to visit planDisney again with any other trip-planning questions.
Choose magic,
