Hello Deborah!
Welcome to planDisney! Your granddaughter is three years old which means she is old enough to finally need a ticket to enter Walt Disney World Resort! It's so exciting being a big kid and having a MagicBand+ that will work to enter the Parks!
The
MagicBand+ is a device that connects to a person's
My Disney Experience Account or profile. This account is important as that is where the tickets and reservations are linked. Since your granddaughter is under the age of 13 they are not able to create their account so I bet you created a "managed profile" for them. This managed profile is how many adults manage the plans for their little ones.
Managed profiles for children cannot be transferred to another adult to manage, unfortunately. What you can do is connect your granddaughter's account to her mother through the My Family & Friends List. First, make sure their mom is connected by
searching for them. Then click on her profile from the Family & Friends List and look for
"Connect My Managed Profiles." A window will pop up with your granddaughter's account. Send the invite and tell Mom to accept it. Once you connect the profile, head to your granddaughter's profile and make sure her mom can view all of her plans and Disney PhotoPass photos. Your little granddaughter's mom will now be able to make plans and reservations for her with no issue. As for the MagicBand+, if you have already assigned the band to your granddaughter in the My Disney Experience then it is now linked to this profile forever. This is why's important that this managed profile not be deleted in case it is linked to important things. My husband's account is the one that manages my children's profile but since I have connected to them with his permission, I can make plans for them. This has proven to be no issue over the years.
Your granddaughter will have such a great time when she arrives. Make sure to secure that MagicBand+ as my kids have each lost one. I would suggest if your granddaughter hates wearing their band or gets tired of it just have her mom wear it herself. That's what I do! I have also used quite successfully a small rubberband to help keep it in place.
I hope this helps and if you have any questions please feel free to
let me know!
Happy Planning!
