Hiya, Karen! Welcome to planDisney!
As a fellow Canadian, I've used Disney Gift Cards purchased in both Canada and the United States. As you know, it can be a little challenging dealing with both currencies when planning a trip to
The Most Magical Place on Earth! With that said, I’m happy to shed some light on this topic, Karen! Let’s dive in.
In my experience,
Disney Gift Cards purchased in Canada can only transfer funds to other Disney Gift Cards purchased in Canada, and the same goes for Disney Gift Cards purchased in the United States. I checked the Disney Gift Cards website and confirmed that, unfortunately, it isn't possible. As highlighted under the
“Info & FAQ” tab, Disney Gift Cards activated in the US can only transfer funds to other Disney Gift Cards activated in the US, while Disney Gift Cards activated in Canada can only transfer funds to other Disney Gift Cards activated in Canada.
I realize this is likely not the news you were hoping for, Karen. Having said that, you can absolutely use Disney Gift Cards purchased in Canada to make purchases at Walt Disney World Resort if you wish. I have done this myself several times. When you make a purchase, it will automatically convert the Canadian funds to USD. I have also used them on the Walt Disney World Resort website to purchase items such as theme park tickets.
On the bright side, your visit is just around the corner, Karen! There are so many
great offerings across Walt Disney World this summer. Plus, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as well as Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom Park, have all recently reopened. Be sure to check them out during your visit!
If you have any other questions leading up to your magical vacation, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us here at

See you real soon!
