Welcome Home, Elizabeth! It's a great day to chat about all things
Disney Vacation Club, and I'm so glad you found us at planDisney. I'm here to channel my inner Judy Hopps to track down the information you need for your question!
Banking and borrowing your
Vacation Points is serious DVC business, and there are definitely rules that any Member needs to know to make sure you can maximize those points. There are great resources on the Member website that I refer to regularly when making our family's vacation plans--they're also helpful when I'm wearing my planDisney ears!
Someone once told me that they think of a Vacation Point as a time traveler who can only travel one time. Once a point travels to a different year through banking or borrowing, it stays in the Use Year that it is moved into. This means that banked and borrowed points
cannot be transferred between Members.
You
can transfer points that are not banked or borrowed to another Member once per Use Year. The transferred points will maintain the same characteristics (
Home Resort Priority Period and Use Year) when they are moved--so if you transfer 100 points for
Disney's Riviera Resort to a Member whose Home Resort is
Disney's BoardWalk Villas, they can't combine your points with theirs for an 11-month booking at the BoardWalk. These points could only be used between 7 and 11 months at Riviera.
When in doubt, I always recommend phoning a friend and contacting
Member Services. The helpful Cast Members there can pull up all the details of your Membership and talk through any transactions with you. They are endlessly patient!
Elizabeth, I'm sorry this wasn't the answer you were hoping for, but I hope you can use those banked points for a magical adventure sometime soon. Thanks so much for visiting planDisney, and please don't hesitate to reach out if we can help with any other questions.
Stay Magical!
Susan
