Ahoy there, Peter, and welcome back to planDisney! It sounds like you have a magical getaway planned to one of my favorite destinations on Earth, so I’m happy to help you navigate this question.
One of the things I appreciate most about
Castaway Cay is how the ships can dock directly on the island. After disembarking, it’s a short walk or tram ride to the beach. If you want to get to the Observation Tower, the quickest way, in my experience, is by taking the tram to Pelican Point and then walking to the tower.
While you’re over in that direction, make sure to spend some time at the adult beach on Serenity Bay. If you do have children with you and they are already registered for the Youth Clubs onboard, they can be checked into Scuttle’s Cove on the island so you can do some exploring on your own. And even though we’ve been to Castaway Cay more times than I can count, we always rent the
Castaway Cay Getaway Package that includes a bike, float, and snorkel rental for the day.
One other fun activity you may want to consider is that even if you don’t run, you can complete the Castaway Cay 5K. The nature trail on the route is about a mile and a half, and you can find the Observation Tower on the way if you’d like. Just stop by the bike shop for your medal once you’ve completed the loop! It’s a fun souvenir that I wear with pride to lunch (and even when I’m back on the ship!).
Magic awaits you at sea, Peter. If you think of any other questions before your sailing, I hope you won’t hesitate to head back to us here at
planDisney.
Bon voyage,
Sami
