I have been training to keep a 16 min mile for the Princess race. How quickly do they sweep runners from the race? Will they remove you after the first mile if running a 16.5 min mile? Or do they let you run a few miles before they begin to sweep runners?

    Hi, Mary Beth!

I hope you are getting excited for the Disney Princess Half Marathon! It's hard to believe this event fit for a princess is only a few weeks away.

With regard to pacing and sweepers, it is possible to be swept at any moment and at any mile. The good news is the 16:00 minute mile timing does not begin until the last runner crosses the starting line. Additionally, you will be warned if you are falling behind in pace, giving you a chance to catch up before you hit the next sweeping point where buses await to transport runners back to the Family Reunion Area. Also remember to factor in photo opportunities and restroom breaks, these will add to your time.

Trust your training and enjoy this experience, you are running in the most magical place on earth. Please do not hesitate to ask any additional questions you may have as we near this enchanting weekend.

    Have a magical race!
