    Hi Melinda!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

One of my favorite things about runDisney events is seeing all of the creative costumes on the course! There is a new costume policy that you can find here on the runDisney Blog.

If your Mulan costume is "inspired" by Mulan and not an actual costume, then you will be fine.  For example:  I wore an orange tank top with a small black vest, blue running capris, and a Goofy hat (that I bought at Walt Disney World) during the marathon as I finished the Goofy Challenge.  It was a nod to Goofy without being an actual costume.  If you have a full-fledged Mulan costume, then you will probably need to change.  You may throw a change of clothes in your race check-in bag, just in case.

Your princess can definitely dress up for her race!  A lot of kids dress up for their runs, just make sure she is in something comfortable enough to run in. The Kids Races are so fun to watch:)

I hope this helps!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.
