How can we get to Trails End restaurant from MK?I heard that you can take a boat, which sounds fun. Can you see Wishes after having dinner? It will be xmas, would like to have a carriage ride @ campground. Is this all possible?Looking for special 1st night.

Hi Connie! You are talking about my home away from home when you mention Fort Wilderness. We bought a motor coach just so we could bring the dogs along on our Disney vacations and it has now become one of my favorite spots on property!

To reach Fort Wilderness from the Magic Kingdom you can hop on a boat directly in front of the entrance to the park. The right side is the line for the FW boat, the left line is for Wilderness Lodge.  Take the boat and once you arrive at the marina Trails End restaurant is only a five minute walk.

They usually do have carriage rides to see the site holiday lights.  I called a few weeks ago as they have discontinued the October Haunted Carriage ride this year but told me they would have the December holiday rides. You can make reservations for this by calling recreation. Since dinner is a buffet at Trails End you would probably only spend an hour there so that will allow you to gauge what time to make the carriage ride for. The rides last about 20-30 minutes.

To end your evening you can head to the beach for not only the Wishes fireworks show but also the Electric Light Parade which comes by around 9:45pm each evening. They will pipe the Wishes music into the speakers so besides the low part of the show you actually have a pretty good view without all the crowds of Main Street to deal with.

Don't forget that the Fort is also home to Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong which is a lot of fun. Check with your resort about the time as during the different seasons the time does change. The show lasts about 30 minutes followed by a Disney movie.

    Have fun!
