I am touring Jan 20-27 of 2016. Since it is a very low crowd season, how beneficial is it to use the Extra Magic Hours vs touring a park that doesn't have Extra Hours that day? Is it more benficial at certain parks than others?

    Hi Marsha,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for your question!

Believe it or not, I ordinarily stay away from the Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks that have Extra Magic Hours on any given day(either in the morning or in the evening). I’ve found that those parks tend to be more crowded and that any “gains” made due to the extra touring hours are cancelled out by the fact that there are more people touring those parks with you. I’ve found that Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom Park are particularly prone to having overcrowded evening Extra Magic Hours.

That being said, during the non-peak times of year, such as January, the theme parks can close very early. I’m planning an adults-only January visit right now, and I’m actually planning to attend the evening Extra Magic Hours for Magic Kingdom Park during our visit. I find that the parks aren’t open late enough at that time of year, so I’m hoping that lighter crowds will make going against my regular touring practices worthwhile!

Please don’t hesitate to come back and visit us if you have any other questions about your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
