Welcome to planDisney, Beatrice!
I frequently travel to the Most Magical Place on Earth with my in-laws who have some mobility issues, so I am happy to help put your mind at ease about your upcoming vacation.
Beatrice, if you are going to be staying at a hotel in the
Disney Resorts Collection, and using Walt Disney World Resort transportation, I recommend that you check out a third-party scooter rental service. These companies will drop off your scooter at your resort, and since all Disney transportation is mobility-disability friendly, you can simply bring it with you when you head out to the theme parks. I say this because there can often be a lot of walking at your resort, and I have found that my in-laws preferred to bring their scooter back and forth. ScooterBug is the Disney Featured Provider, and the only company that can drop your scooter off at Bell Services, as opposed to having to set up a time to take delivery of your scooter.
Now, if you are staying at an off-site resort or only visiting for a day, you can
rent an Electronic Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) once you arrive in the theme parks. The rental location is generally right outside the gates and is clearly marked, but ask a Cast Member once you arrive if you do not see it. If you need assistance getting to the ECV rental location from your car, there are courtesy wheelchairs provided in the parking lot.
Beatrice, while will you will have to
transfer out of your ECV for some rides, the vast majority of attraction queues are ECV-friendly, meaning that you will be able to stay on your scooter until you board the attraction.
I just know that you will have a fabulous time, Beatrice!
See you real soon!
