We're tossing around the idea of bringing our daughter to WDW for her 5th b-day. Historically, has Disney offered any specials mid December? (packages, rooms, dining...)

Hello Amy!  Early to mid-December is a wonderful time to vacation at Disney!  The crowds are generally very light and you'll definitely leave in the holiday spirit!  I just checked mousesavers.com and searched on "historical discounts."  I am happy to report that on 10/19/2008, Disney announced discounts for room only and vacation packages for check in dates of 12/14-12/24/2008.  Discounts are never guaranteed but this certainly may give you some hope!

You may want to keep an eye on mousesavers.com for upcoming specials.  In fact, if you visit their site, you can sign up for the free newsletter which will announce specials as they become available.  Mousesavers also has occasional "hot deals" that are not announced on the website.

I hope this helps!  Diane  :)
