We're torn between stayiing at Grand Floridian or Polynesian. Since we're taking our toddler for the first time we're most interested in having the shortest travel time possible (especially to the MK). Is one a shorter trip than the other? Thanks!

Hey Justin!  How exciting to be taking your little one for the first time to Walt Disney World!  I am sure you will be spending a great deal of time in the Magic Kingdom and this is why you want to have a resort in close proximity to the park.

The Grand Floridian is the closest resort via the monorail to the Magic Kingdom.  Once you board your vehicle the park is the next stop.  During busy times please remember that many of the cars will be full and standing room only will be available.  This generally is not a big deal since you will be getting off at the next stop but when traveling with strollers it can be easier to fold them up so you can squeeze in.

The Polynesian is only one stop behind the Grand Floridian so there isn't a great deal of difference in timing.  When you depart the park and head back to the resorts the Polynesian will be the third stop and the Grand Floridian will be the fourth. Both resorts will also offer a boat to the park and back if you decide the monorails are too crowded.

The absolute easiest resort to get to the Magic Kingdom is the Contemporary.  From here you can simply walk to and from whenever you wish.  The walk is not long and there are sidewalks along the way.  I takes about 10 minutes.

There are pros and cons for all three and I would not worry about the distance.  Choose the one that offers the atmosphere that best suits your family.  I am sure you will have an absolutely magical vacation at any of them!
