I am torn about getting the meal plan, our kids are 3 and 4 and will not eat enough to make it worth it imo. If you do not have a meal plan, do you have to put a deposit down for reservations? If so,is it applied to your bill, or what happens to that money?

Hello Jamie and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel,
I feel I should give you a disclaimer: I am a huge fan of the Disney Dining Plan. Even when my kids were as young as yours, we utilized it. For us, it made budgeting much easier and it allowed us to not worry about the cost of meals once we were on our vacation. In my opinion, with younger children, the value comes if used to visit character dining venues.

As far as deposits go, even if you have the Disney Dining Plan you must provide a credit/debit card when reserving a table. Nothing is charged to the card unless you fail to cancel a reservation the day before, if need be. There are a few exceptions to this rule. (aren't there always!) Cinderella's Royal Table, Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, Spirit of Aloha Luau, and Mickey's Backyard BBQ all require full prepayment when making your reservation.

Have fun planning and see ya real soon!
