I am so torn. We are coming to DW in Oct. with three boys (6, 4, 4mo) and just don't know where to stay. I think we have it narrowed down to Animal Kingdom, Contemporary, Wilderness, or Coronado (the only moderate with queen beds). What would you do??

    Hi Angie!

I completely understand your anxiety over choosing your resort accommodations. I'm always trying to decide which resort is the best for each vacation. Our budget is often different and some vacations we want more pool time. There are a lot of factors to consider!

First, it depends on your budget. Price out the trip with each of those options. The Contemporary Resort will be your most expensive. Coronado will be the least expensive. Perhaps you'll discover that the Contemporary doesn't fit in to this particular vacation budget. Cross off any hotels that are priced over what you are willing to spend.

    2. Figure out what is next important to your family. Is it location? pool? room size? For instance, the Contemporary is closest to the Magic Kingdom but the Wilderness Lodge is less expensive and only a boat ride away from the same park.

    3. Do you need certain hotel amenities? For instance, Coronado is large and requires lots of walking. With a young child, I would rule this option out. The good news is that Port Orleans French Quarter is in the process of renovating rooms to include queen size beds! This is a wonderful resort for a family with young children because it's charming but small. Do you want indoor corridors? If that is important to you, you'll need to choose a deluxe hotel.

My son is now 11. When he was younger, he absolutely loved the Wilderness Lodge and the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

If I absolutely had to choose for you, I would recommend the moderate Port Orleans French Quarter for that price level. And if the deluxe fits in your budget, I would vote for Wilderness Lodge.

My personal favorite out of those four hotels is the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Best wishes!
