Hi Kay,
Thanks so much for a great question! While I'm sure your grandsons would love either an Illuminations Cruise at Epcot or a Wishes Cruise on the Seven Seas Lagoon, my vote would be for the Wishes Cruise. My family booked a Wishes Cruise a few years ago. We departed from the dock behind Disney's Wilderness Lodge and the lovely Cast Member who piloted our pontoon boat gave us a delightful tour of Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon before selecting a stunning location from which we could all enjoy the fireworks show,
Wishes Nighttime Spectacular. It was a night none of us will ever forget. We even got to see parts of the Electrical Water Pageant from an interesting new perspective.
While the Illuminations Cruise is wonderful, you can essentially get the same view you would get from one of these boats by standing on the bridge between the UK and France pavilions in World Showcase. My personal opinion is that you get a more unique perspective by investing in the Wishes Cruise than in the Illuminations Cruise.
Then, if you have time, you could always select another night to view Wishes from inside the park. You might even consider booking the
Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party at the Magic Kingdom. I don't know any little boys who wouldn't relish the opportunity to enjoy unlimited sugary treats while watching Tinkerbell fly overhead. This party provides an excellent vantage point from which you could all enjoy the fireworks.
Best wishes to you as you plan your grandsons' magical Disney adventure!
Jill
