I've never been to Tom Sawyer Island in my many times of going to Disney. I've heard it's not too interesting. What's there and is it important enough to take time out of our day to go?

    Hi there Jessie!

How's Woody? Just kidding... Anyway, I feel the same way. I can't begin to tell you the last time I have been over to Tom Sawyer Island! It had to be when I was a child and that was a very long time ago. But recently, I have been wondering the same question... What really is over there and will my ten and six year old enjoy a whimsical visit to this once forgotten Island. I'm going to find out in June because I'm going to take them over there when we go on our family trip. We're also going to go to the Swiss Family tree house to explore.

Over the last few years I have been to Disney many times and I have taken the kids on all of the major rides. This time, it's about exploration... What kind of other things are there to do? Tom Sawyer Island gives them a sense of being in a place taken directly from a well known book. Surely they will eventually read about Tom in school or at home so this is a great learning experience for their future. I went to the very helpful Disney website and found some great facts about the Island. You can see them here. Tom Sawyer Island closes at dusk so remember to please make sure to check the Park Times Guide when you arrive at the park to verify character appearance locations, parade and show times as changes may occur. I hope you Have a Magical Stay at the Walt Disney World Resort! If you have any more questions we are always here to help!
