    I was told the Wonder will be in dry dock on my 50th in Oct. so we booked the first cruise after. What are the pros and cons of going on the first cruise after dry dock? Do they ever run late and postpone the first cruise? Are there kinks to work out?

    When a Disney ship goes into dry dock, it is literally taken out of the water in order to undergo magical transformations. During this time, maintenance is performed on areas of the ship that are below the water line while at sea. It's also a time when the ship's internal amenities are enhanced and/or revamped.

    The advantage of sailing on the first cruise after dry dock is that the ship is completely refreshed. There is a special excitement in the air when undergoing the first sailing after a ship has been in dry dock. Crew and passengers alike feel the anticipation of sailing with the new enhancements. Future passengers can't wait to hear about your cruise and what changes were made to the ship!

    DCL does everything that it can to insure that Mickey's ship is ready to sail by the first scheduled embarkation date. Sometimes passengers will find that the crew is still working on some minor repairs/renovations when boarding directly after a dry dock.
