Hi Erin! Thanks for directing your inquiry here! I'll be happy to clarify this matter for you. Active and retired military personnel may purchase up to six 4-Day Disney Armed Forces Salute Tickets for themselves, dependents, and other guests. As an exception, additional tickets may be obtained if the service member has more than five dependents. Please be advised that a Military ID Card must be presented at the time of purchase. The Armed Forces Salute Program has been in effect since October 24th, 2010 and will be running through September 28th, 2011. Blackout dates are as follows, 12/27/10-12/31/10 and 4/17/11-4/23/11 at all Walt Disney World Resort theme parks and 7/4/11 at Disney's Magic Kingdom only. When purchased from a military base, MWR/ITT offices, or Shades of Green Resort, the Military ID bearer will receive exchange vouchers. These vouchers are not "live" tickets and must therefore be exchanged for actual activated tickets. However, as your friend has already explained, the advantage of buying exchange vouchers at these locations is that no sales tax will be collected at the time of purchase. Keep in mind that the service member (or the service member's spouse, or unremarried widow), must be present with military ID in hand in order to activate tickets. Once tickets are activated, they may be used at any turnstile. You may also obtain tickets directly from Walt Disney World Park Ticket Offices, Guest Relations Offices, the Ticket and Transportation Center, and Downtown Disney Guest Relations Offices. However, sales taxes will be collected on any ticket sales or upgrades at these locations. To read more about this and other exciting offers for members of the U.S. Military, click
