We were told Fort Wilderness is very large. We have limited ability to walk long distances. Would you advise if we should rent a golf cart for our visit, we intend to visit 3 parks and several dinner events. We are both Seniors with medical issues.

    Hi Rita!

It sounds like you will soon be a guest at the wonderful Fort Wilderness Resort. This is one of our favorite places to stay when we come and of course always when we bring our motor coach.

The resort is the largest in land size of all the Disney resorts. They have a wonderful internal bus system that connects each loop with the main bus area at the front of the resort or the marina and dining area at the other end. These buses will run about every 15 minutes and there are seats at each stop. The loops are large though and you will need to get to the bus stops by walking through the loops to the main roads. This is the same whether you are in a camping loop or a cabin loop.

Because of this, Renting a Golf Cart would be an ideal solution to walking. You can reserve them for the length of your stay and highly suggest you do this as soon as possible. They will run out during very busy times. There is ample parking for the carts at both ends of the resort where the Disney buses and boats will run as well as at the pools and Trading Posts. Beyond using the carts as a form of transportation they are also wonderful to use to explore the resort and all of the various loops. Guests often decorate their sites during the holidays.

Renting a golf cart is an added expense but it was always one that we loved to take on until we actually ended up buying our own and bringing it with us for our Fort stays!
