I was told that the DDP kids menus for ages 3-9 mostly have only mac&cheese or chicken nuggets, is that true? Are there any places on the DDP where kids can get more of a choice for the sit down dinners? My kids will be 3 & 8 when we go. Thanks!

    Hi Cindy,

While it is true that a child can get his/her fill of "kid food" at Walt Disney World, there are also many other options available to them -- especially at table service restaurants.  I recommend dining at restaurants that have buffet service, like Crystal Palace or Boma.  At these restaurants both children and adults are free to choose any food item they wish.

Similarly, there are many restaurants that serve meals family style.  Whispering Canyon Cafe and Garden Grill are two of our favorites.  At these restaurants, your server will bring you a plate full of the children's selections AND a platter of the adult fare.

Even at the table service restaurants where you order a la carte, there are usually one or two selections, such as grilled fish of the day, that provide more selection than hotdogs, nuggets and mac & cheese.

For some variety at a counter service restaurant, try Yak & Yeti at Animal Kingdom and Sunshine Seasons in Epcot.  Also, many of the counter service restaurants in Magic Kingdom offer a salad with grilled chicken as a child's menu option.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
