Hi Suzi,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question!
Walt Disney World Resort doesn’t release its attendance figures to the public so you won’t find this information anywhere on the
official website. The people to whom you were speaking were likely referring to unofficial sites, such as www.touringplans.com and www.easywdw.com and their different “crowd calendars”. That’s where you’ll find the information that you’re looking for.
That being said, having visited Walt Disney World Resort during every single season (and every single month in the calendar, at least once), I’d say that there are definite pros and cons to visiting during the quieter months. They aren’t necessarily “better” months as there often aren’t as many entertainment options and the Theme Parks can close MUCH earlier than during busier times of year. For example, although September is a very quiet time of the year, I’d rather visit in October during the
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and when the temperatures start to get a bit cooler.
In short, although avoiding more crowded times of year is definitely a good idea if you can swing it, I wouldn’t recommend making that the only factor when deciding what time of year is best to visit Walt Disney World Resort.
I hope my answer helps you plan your upcoming vacation. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
