Hi, there!
Welcome back to planDisney, Vanessa. We just love when you stop by with your Disney vacation planning questions!
I'm a big fan of both the traditional MagicBand and
MagicBand+. What's not to love about a little Disney magic on your wrist? To answer your first question, no, your 2-year old does not need a MagicBand for any reason. Little ones under the age of 3 are special Guests of Mickey Mouse, so they do not need theme park admission. Consequently, they do not need anything for entry into the theme parks. When my daughter was 2-years old, she wanted her own MagicBand so that she was just like her big brothers. We let her use it to open our Disney Resort hotel room door, but other than that, she just wore it as a cute accessory!
To answer your second question, you should be able to use your MagicBands from a previous visit. You are by no means required to buy new MagicBands or MagicBand+ for your upcoming stay! Before your arrival, just be sure that your current MagicBands are listed as 'active' on your
My Disney Experience account. To check that status, select 'My MagicBands and Cards' from the My Disney Experience drop-down menu on the Walt Disney World Resort homepage. Scroll down to the section that says, 'Manage MagicBands or Cards.' For each Guest listed there, you should see all the MagicBands assigned to their accounts. Any MagicBands that are listed as 'active' should be good to go for your upcoming stay!
Have you heard about
Disney MagicMobile Service? This feature on the
My Disney Experience mobile app works much like a MagicBand. With Disney MagicMobile Service, you can create a Disney MagicMobile Pass for any Guest in your party and add that pass to your digital wallet. You can use the Disney MagicMobile Pass for entry into the theme parks (with valid admission and a Theme Park Reservation, of course), to connect your Disney PhotoPass photos to your My Disney Experience account, and to charge purchases to your Disney Resort hotel folio during your stay. Isn't that cool? My son and husband have recently decided that they prefer using Disney MagicMobile Passes over wearing MagicBands. We've had no trouble using this convenient service!
I hope this was helpful, Vanessa. Please let us know if you have any other questions! We're delighted to help you plan your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
