Hiya Amy! Thanks for sailing by planDisney with this great question!
I'm so excited you are considering setting out on a
Disney Cruise Line vacation here soon! There is nothing quite like the anticipation of having your sailing booked and looking forward to all of the magical memories you are bound to make.
Amy, this is a great question and one that even I was also curious about before I set sail for the first time with my little ones. If you are departing from a U.S. port and returning to the same U.S. port, passports are not required for U.S. citizens.
All children 15 years of age or younger need only an original or copy of their state-issued birth certificate. They will not need any government-issued photo ID. This will be the case if you are referencing arriving and leaving different ports during your itinerary.
If you plan to disembark from a port outside of the U.S., I would suggest checking out the
Travel Documentation page to get the most up-to-date information regarding what type of documentation is required when sailing. There is a great chance that a passport will be required for many of these itineraries, even for small children.
One of my favorite aspects of traveling with toddlers on Disney Cruise Line is the number of character interactions they will encounter. You'll usually find them roaming around the ship in different areas throughout the day. My daughters were in awe each day of our trip!
Amy, I hope your family has a magical time aboard your next sailing!
Stop back and see us again at planDisney!
See ya real soon!
