Hey Howdy Hey Christine and welcome to planDisney!
I am so sorry to hear you are dealing with back and nerve issues. I am glad to hear that your doctor did bring up the possibility of using
Disability Access Service (DAS) on your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort. I will be happy to review this service with you and try to get you more information on registration.
DAS is a service that Disney offers to those wanting to experience the Magic of the parks but may have issues that affect their ability to navigate the lines of attractions as they usually involve long standing requirements. DAS is a service that allows to you wait in lines virtually by requesting a return time through your
My Disney Experience account for you and your party. Once your return time arrives, you can return to the line entrance and speak to a Cast Member about redeeming your position for a much shorter wait requirement.
Registering for DAS is SUPER easy and you can do it from home! You can register between 2 and 30 days from your date of arrival. You do this by registering with DAS and speaking with a Cast Member about your situation and needs. If you are approved for DAS, they will then help you complete the setup linked to your My Disney Experience account. You will have access to booking 2 one one-hour return windows for select attractions in the parks before your vacation with DAS Advanced Planning. You will also have 1 return time to be booked each day you plan to visit the parks before you enter. After that, you will be able to make requests on your My Disney Experience account or by visiting a Cast Member outside of the attraction you would like to experience.
If computers and technology are not your thing, don't worry.
Registration for DAS can also be completed once you arrive at Walt Disney World. Simply visit Guest Relations at the front of each park once you enter to speak to a Cast Member about signing up. Super easy!
Visiting Disney parks does involve a lot of standing and walking to and from various places and attractions. If you also feel you may be limited with your walking tolerance, Disney has
wheelchairs and
Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECV) available to rent. These can also be rented at the front of the parks on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are also a lot of other companies that will offer wheelchair or ECV rentals for the duration of your trip which you can look into with a quick internet search. Usually, these companies can deliver right to your resort as well.
I hope this helps give you a little more insight into DAS and your options for navigating the parks. Please feel free to reach back out with any other questions you may have, we are always happy to help!
Have a Magical day,
Nick
