Hey there, Kelsey! Welcome to
planDisney, and thanks a bunch for bringing us your question! I'm really glad you asked this now, because timing makes all the difference here, especially when you're trying to keep some flexibility while things settle financially.
Since your arrival date is April 1, 2026,
the key date to keep in mind is 30 days before check-in. In your case, that lands on March 2, 2026. If you choose to cancel your
Walt Disney World vacation package on or before March 2, you would receive a refund of everything you've paid so far, including your deposit, as long as there aren't any non-refundable extras attached to your reservation. Things like runDisney race registrations, travel protection plans, or third-party components would still be excluded, but the package itself would be fully refundable at that point.
If you wait until March 3 through March 30, you still have the option to cancel, but this is when a cancellation fee kicks in. In that scenario, Disney would keep your original package deposit, and the remaining balance would be refunded, again minus any non-refundable add-ons.
Once you're within one day of arrival, or if you don't show up at all, the package becomes non-refundable, so that's the window you definitely want to avoid if keeping your options open is the goal. It's also important to know that Disney doesn't issue refunds for unused park tickets, dining plan meals, early checkouts, or personalized experiences once your trip begins.
The good news is that you have plenty of breathing room right now. You still have almost two months before you'd need to make a final decision to get your deposit back in full. You can absolutely take some time, see how things look financially, and reassess as March approaches.
Kelsey, I truly hope things smooth out for you, and that you're ultimately able to take this trip when the timing feels right. And if plans do change, you now know exactly where that flexibility window sits. Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you want help exploring alternatives or adjustments. We're always happy to help here at planDisney!
Warm hugs,
Ana Paula
