Hi Tammy,
Welcome back to planDisney! Hooray for planning a first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort for your little one!
The good news is that a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort will definitely make him feel extra special. So, my first suggestion would be to book a
vacation package with a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel. When we took our girls on their first trip, they were 5-years old. Prior to our visit, we visited a Disney store and bought a few extra surprises for them. You can certainly look through
shopDisney to see what they might have available. We picked up special pajamas, flip flops, princess dresses, and matching shirts.
Also, consider making
advanced dining reservations at dining locations with character experiences. Our absolute favorite is
Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera. You could also try
Chef Mickey's, Garden Grill, and
Tusker House. Take a look at
Disney Floral & Gifts. We ordered balloons for our girls on one visit and their surprise was just priceless!
One of the best things you can do is to pick up a celebratory button that says 1st visit. You can pick these up from your resort hotel or Guest Relations. Also, be sure to note that it's his first visit on your dining reservations when you make them. Cast Members love to recognize little ones wearing those first visit buttons.
Tammy, our girls' first visit was so magical. They loved everything, the attractions, the characters, the fireworks, and the resort hotel. At the end of the trip, we were headed back to the airport and I realized that we had not purchased any souvenirs. We all laughed. We had such a good time, that we simply enjoyed our time together. So, remember, the best part is being together and making those unforgettable memories!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
