Welcome to the Moms Panel, Angela!
My family has had the incredible privilege to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday at the Walt Disney World Resort. The Disney Parks and Resort hotels are
beautifully decorated for the holidays with festive trees, wreaths, garland, ribbons and more seasonal lights than you will ever see in your entire life!
It's highly unusual for the Disney Parks to close due to capacity. However, it does happen occasionally so it's good to be prepared. If you choose to visit one of the 4 Disney Theme Parks on Thanksgiving Day, I recommend arriving at the park as early as possible then staying for the entire day. There is always the possibility that the park you enter in the morning will reach capacity sometime during the day. So, if you leave in the middle of the day, or arrive too late, there is a chance – however remote – that you will not be allowed entry into the park.
Disney guarantees entrance to one of their theme parks with the purchase of admission Tickets. However, it may not be the park you wish to enter. Say you have dinner reservations inside Magic Kingdom Park, but when you arrive it is closed due to capacity, you might miss your reservation entirely, as you will not be able to enter until the park re-opens. It is a fire code policy, so it's not something that you would be able to bypass for any reason.
Do consider making dining reservations for Thanksgiving Day. We don't yet have any information regarding the dining locations offering
special holiday feasts this November 22, 2018. I suggest checking the Disney Parks Blog for future announcements about special holiday dining.
Wishing you a magical holiday at Walt Disney World Resort!
