Hello, Friend!
Welcome to planDisney. I am so excited that you are sailing on your first Disney Cruise! My family's first voyage aboard the Disney Cruise Line was on the Disney Wonder too. It is the perfect ship to begin your Disney Cruise adventures!
I suggest first checking out the
Port Adventures and
Onboard Activities that might be available for your cruise. Port Adventures are shore excursions, and offerings can range from relaxing at the beach to going on a mountain adventure to exploring a city (and more!). Explanations of different Port Adventures are located on the
Disney Cruise Line website. Scroll down to find "Port Adventures by Destination" to see potential options for your Ports of Call. Choose the appropriate region, select "Ports of Call," and specify a destination. Search results can also be filtered by activity level, type of experience, accessibility, and price range.
First-time cruisers can typically
book experiences 75 days before their sail date (although Concierge Guests can usually do so 130 days ahead of time). Keep in mind that not all experiences listed on the website are available on every cruise, and most are subject to availability.
Additionally, information about Onboard Activities can be discovered on the Disney Cruise Line website. On the
Onboard Activities page, use the "Ships" drop-down menu to select "Disney Wonder." Here you will see possible activities that might take place on your cruise. I highly recommend making a brunch reservation at
Palo, the adult-exclusive restaurant. The food is incredible, and my spouse and I enjoy having a date while on vacation. We usually feed our kids and then drop them off at the youth clubs.
Speaking of youth clubs, your eleven-year-old may enjoy spending time in
Edge, the youth club geared towards kids aged 11 to 14. My children adore the youth clubs! The youth clubs host organized activities that my kids enjoy, and it is also a great opportunity to make friends their age. Your little one may have fun playing in
"it's a small world" nursery! Youngsters between 6 months to 3 years old (or from 1 to 3 years old on Transatlantic, Hawaii, and Panama Canal itineraries) can play, watch movies, and even nap in this sweet nursery. Unlike Edge, there is a fee to utilize the nursery, and it is subject to availability. The youth clubs typically host an open house on embarkation day where parents and kids can check out the areas and talk to the youth counselors about utilizing the services.
I also cannot forget to mention
In-Room Dining! Most In-Room Dining items are complimentary! Whether it is coffee in the morning or a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar before bed, there is something to fill your bellies at almost any time of the day or night. I always bring cash to tip the In-Room Dining Crew Members, as that is not included in the
pre-paid gratuities.
Friend, I hope you have a wonderful cruise! Please reach out to planDisney again if you have other questions!
Happy sailing!
Jen
