Do you have any tips for budgeting spending money for your kids? My boys are only 3 and 5 but I'd like to find a creative way to give them freedom and limits for their own spending. Thinking about Disney dollars or something similar? What have you don

    Hello, Amber!!

What a great question!  I have five kids of my own, so I TOTALLY understand the value of stretching the Disney dollar!  The great news is that it can be done!

Here are two suggestions that my family has implemented to budget spending money for our kids:

    1. We always purchase Disney Gift cards for each child with a specified amount of money based on their age. Last year, we gave our five-year-old daughter a $40.00 gift card. I don't know about your five year old, but my five-year-old could spend her money in about one minute at Magic Kingdom! Now, we do not give our kids their gift cards until DAY THREE of our vacation. For the first three days, we ask our kids to make a list of the things they would like to purchase with their gift cards. Once they realize how much everything costs, they can then choose what they can purchase. (This also builds great anticipation for each child on what they are going to buy!) As they purchase items, we then keep a running total for each child. Once a child hits their magic budget number, they no longer are allowed to spend any more money. This way each child has the freedom to spend their money, and it also builds in the necessary budget limits.

    2. We also take advantage of the free things Disney has to offer!  Disney Cast Members are always passing out free Disney stickers, and our kids think stickers are GOLD!  Another idea is to pick up a free Disney "celebration" button at your Disney resort or at any of the Disney Theme Parks.

I sure hope this helps in your planning!  If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

    Have a MAGICAL day!
