Should you tip housekeeping, and if so when and how much?

    Hi Sharon!

I always tip the "mousekeepers" at our resort because they are absolutely incredible. They do so much more than keep the room tidy, which is a huge job within itself! You will often find that your magical "mousekeepers" make funny animals and characters with the towels in the room. Some even make your kids' toys come to life while you are at the parks and you'll come back to see them hanging from the curtains in the window, reading a book or watching TV.

One year when we stayed at Disney's All Star Movie Resorts, we had an incredible "Mousekeeper" who had my kids toys posing every night and she even wrote a letter "from" Woody to my kids. Every night the kids couldn't wait to leave the parks to see what magic was waiting for them in the room. I probably overtipped her a bit, but she went way above and beyond. I also wrote a glowing note of recommendation to her supervisor to make sure her extra effort was recognized.

The general etiquette for gratuity for housekeeping ranges from $1-$5 a day. Since you may have many "mousekeepers" throughout your stay, you may want to leave your gratuity every night, although leaving one tip at the end of the week is also acceptable. Tipping is never required, but it is greatly appreciated for all of their hard work.

I hope you have a magical stay!

    Magically,
    Stacy
