Howdy Kim and welcome back to planDisney. I love taking water transportation at Walt Disney World Resort. It amazes me how the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake are connected by a manmade water bridge that we get to sail across when staying at Disney's Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness Resorts.
Keep in mind that the most helpful tool to get you around the "World" is with point-to-point directions from the My Disney Experience Mobile App.
The watercraft routes run every 15 to 30 minutes depending on the time of day. There are three routes across these waters which are subject to change.
- Green Flag Route: Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort to Magic Kingdom Park
- Red Flag Route: Disney's Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom Park
- Blue Flag Route: Disney's Contemporary Resort to Fort Wilderness Resort to Wilderness Lodge
Currently, the Blue Flag Route runs between 3:00 PM and 10:45 PM. Of course, times are subject to change and additional hours may be added but as of now to use Disney Water Transportation to get to Disney's Contemporary Resort from Disney's Wilderness Lodge will require a Red Flag Route water taxi to Magic Kingdom Park and either walk or transfer to the
Walt Disney World Monorail System for breakfast and lunch (unless after 3:00 PM). Walking is the fastest as it will take about 10-12 minutes once you exit the water taxi.
The EPCOT monorail does not have a stop at Disney's Contemporary Resort. You need to go to the Transportation and Ticket Center and transfer monorails. To use Disney Transportation to get to EPCOT from Disney's Wilderness Lodge in the early morning take the
Walt Disney World Bus Service. There is no need to add travel time with other modes of transportation. It should take about 10 minutes once the bus leaves.
