what time of year is the quiet season at disney florida

    Hi Karen,

It seems like more and more people are figuring out the "quiet" times at Walt Disney World and taking advantage of them - great for business, not as great for vacationers looking for an "empty" park.  Having said that, there are still a couple times during the year where crowds are fairly light.

Mid-September through Mid-October is one of my favorite times to visit. For most people, school has just started, so there aren't as many families pulling their children out to go on vacation at that time.  The weather is still quite warm (even hot), so you can enjoy the pools and water parks.  By mid-September Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has begun. This is a separate ticketed event that takes place on select nights in the Magic Kingdom.  Its a great event complete with trick-or-treating, special parades, character dance parties and low crowds on attractions.

Another quiet time to go is right after the New Year.  Again, for most people school has just resumed, and not as many families travel from mid-January through the first week in February.  The exception to this is the weekend preceding Martin Luther King Day.  That weekend is quite crowded as travelers are taking advantage of the long weekend.

Early December used to be the ideal time to travel.  The holiday decorations are up, but the crowd levels were down.  However, I was there last year at that time, and it seemed as though many guests had become savvy to this secret.  Still, if you want to enjoy the holidays, Disney style, this is the best time to visit.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation, whenever you choose to travel!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
