1st time taking 4.5 yr old daughter and 1.5 yr old son to Disney. I have read travel books and get conflicting info on whether Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter is more convenient for families with young children. Any advice?

    Hi Jill!

My little girl was just 4 when we stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter and it was perfect there!  PO French Quarter is the smaller of these sister Resorts and that made for an easier time with her little (go ahead and try to make me get in a stroller, lady) legs. Especially in the morning as we made our way to breakfast and later finding the bus stop.

A bonus while we were staying there was that Disney Buses stopped at French Quarter before going to Riverside. This was good for me because the bus wasn't too crowded yet and I could get my kids settled quicker!  Of course, bus routes can be subject to change, but that's how it was when I stayed.

We did walk down to Riverside a few times because you can use the fun stuff, like the pools and playground, there too!  But my kids LOVED the pool at French Quarter with its neat dragon/sea serpent slide. They didn't even ride on that slide, but they loved looking at it!

I recommend Port Orleans French Quarter to people with small kids and Grandparents based on the convenient small size of the Resort.

    Have a fabulous trip!!
