Janet from MD Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

What other time sensitive things do I need to book in advance besides excursions and fine dining? Do I book character meet and greets?

Ahoy, Janet! Welcome back to planDisney. My pals and I are happy you cruised our way again with your question.

I’m sure it doesn’t come as a shock that I get excited about planning a Disney Cruise, so I’m happy to assist as you plan for yours! You may begin booking cruise activities when your advanced booking window opens. This will be 75 days prior to your sail date if you are a first-time guest of Disney Cruise Line. If you are a returning guest, your advanced booking window will be 90 days prior to sailing if you are a Silver Castaway Club Member, 105 days in advance for Gold Castaway Club Members, and 120 days prior to embarkation for Concierge Guests and Platinum Castaway Club Members. If you aren’t sure of your Castaway Club status, log in to your account on Disney Cruise Line’s website and follow the Castaway Club link

In addition to booking Port Adventures and Adult-exclusive dining experiences (which I highly, highly recommend!) you can reserve Senses Spa & Salon services, Nursery reservations, and Onboard Fun.

Lots of guests wonder what is included in the Onboard Fun category. This is where you will be able to reserve a makeover at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for any royal children in your sailing party. This enchanted salon is just for children ages 3-12. My 9-year-old had the best time being pampered recently by her own Fairy-Godmother-in-Training aboard the Disney Magic. You can also reserve Royal Court Royal Tea for your princesses and knights to enjoy. Tea, savory snacks, and sweets are served alongside special gifts as you interact with beloved Disney Princesses in a fairytale tea party setting.

Also included in Onboard Fun is the option to book beverage tastings and pre-reserve photo packages at a discount. If you will be sailing on the Disney Fantasy or Disney Dream, you also have the option to reserve a spot to play on the Golf and Sports Simulator onboard.

There is only one Character Greeting opportunity that requires advanced booking and that is the ticketed Royal Gathering. This is an opportunity to meet several Disney Princesses at one time and is a complimentary offering. You can reserve a spot at the Royal Gathering 30 days prior to your sailing date. All of the other Character Greeting opportunities do not require tickets. Once you are on board the ship, you can use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to view the scheduled Character Greeting times in the activity itinerary for your voyage. There will be plenty of options to interact with your Disney Friends onboard. In fact, you’ll see them all over the ship!

Janet, cruise back to us at planDisney if you have any further questions. Say hi to Mickey for me and have a fabulous time!
