On your mark! Get Set! Register!
Reverend Dr. Robert, welcome to planDisney and runDisney. I am so glad you ran by with this question
before April 9. Training to run takes commitment. Registration Day takes preparation.
One of my favorite signs at a race read, "You made it through registration. Today is the easy part!"
runDisney events are popular, and many events sell out on Registration Day. Registration is not complicated, just crowded.
For
runDisney Marathon Weekend 2025, general registration opens on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 10 am Eastern.
Shortly before 10 am, sign into your
My Disney Experience account, go to the Marathon Weekend page, and select the event you are interested in: the
5K with Pluto;
10K with Chip and Dale;
half marathon with Donald and Daisy; Mickey and Minnie's
marathon; or a challenge with
Goofy's Race and a Half or run all four events with Dopey.
Everyone who has entered to register early will be put in a virtual queue and randomly assigned a place in line once registration opens. Anyone joining at 10:00:01 or later will be placed at the end of the line in order they joined the queue.
runDisney created a
short video to share the major steps. To register, you need to be logged into your Disney account. You will need to provide information on the runner, like name, age, date of birth, e-mail address and emergency contact. You will also be asked for t-shirt size and expected pace. T-shirt size is not a complicated question, but there are options for size and fit. You can change this later so no need to linger on this question. For 10K and longer distances, you can enter your pace, and some paces are fast enough to require proof of time. This is another that can be easily updated later.
You will need your credit card, Disney Gift Card, or other form of payment. Registration is not complete until you have checked out and get a confirmation message on the screen. Make sure to have your form of payment ready to enter. One of my tricks: while waiting in the queue, I type my credit card number in a document or note and copy it, so I can quickly paste it and keep pacing through the markers.
Once you see the page saying you have completed registration, a confirmation email will be sent to you. You can also log into the runDisney site to review your registration; make any needed updates such as emergency contacts, shirt size and pace; and sign your digital waiver. On the runDisney site, look for "Manage Account" in the list of links at the bottom of the page to access your registrations.
I hope registration is as easy as a quick jog on a crisp, fall morning.
Happy running and hope to see you on the course in January!
