Jambo Cheryl!
That means hello in Swahili, and is a friendly greeting you’ll encounter when traveling through the Africa section of
Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for bringing your question to us.
Cheryl, I would estimate an hour and a half for your lunch at
Tusker House Restaurant. There is usually a short wait between checking in and being seated, and it will probably take somewhere around an hour for all the characters to circulate to your table, depending on where they are in their rotation. My family has seen all the characters in the first 30 minutes in the past, but we’ve also waited well over an hour. Your server will explain how it works when you are seated, and will tell you to look out for the characters before heading to the buffet to ensure you don’t miss anyone. Be sure to have fun with the characters when they arrive at your table – they love to play and have fun with you, so have your autograph book and camera ready!
The characters at Tusker House Restaurant are so adorable in their safari gear, and the food is really good, so sit back, enjoy some Jungle Juice (seriously – it’s amazing), and try as many things as you can on the fantastic buffet. It’s a mix of African-inspired and American options, and they are all just so yummy. Don’t miss the Banana Bread Pudding for dessert.
Enjoy your dining safari!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
