Hey there, Andrea. I love seeing a fellow North Carolinian ask a question here at planDisney. I see that your trip is only a few short weeks away. I bet you are getting so excited!
Being just a short and easy 8-hour drive away, I typically always drive down to Walt Disney World. I find it so convenient to have my own vehicle to get around. I like to pack a little cooler of sodas and water to keep in the car. After a long day at the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and then a walk back to the car it's nice to have a cold, refreshing beverage waiting.
Standard Theme Park Parking is typically $25.00 per day. If you are a Disney Resort Hotel Guest or an Annual Passholder that fee is waived. Parking lots each morning open up about 45 minutes prior to that respective park opening. However, when I am driving to the
Walt Disney World Theme Parks I always try to be at the parking lot entrance right at an hour prior. This is going to help secure you a great spot in line. Most of the time getting there right at an hour early, I am one of the first cars which basically guarantees a front row parking spot and a quick walk to the entrance of the park. Also, on occasion, if all of the Cast Members are ready the parking lots will open up a little bit early. If not, the worst thing that is going to happen is you get to wait in your comfy car for 15 minutes. We always stop and pick up breakfast and coffee to enjoy in the car while we wait.
Getting there early really does set your day up right and I am glad to know you are already planning ahead for that. Once you are able to park you'll make a mad dash to the entrance of the Walt Disney World Theme Park. Currently, before entering, you'll go through a temperature check screening and through security. Then, have your MagicBand or Keys to the Kingdom card out and ready, scan Mickey to Mickey and you'll be off. Arriving early is actually my biggest tip to others when planning a Walt Disney World vacation. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how many must-do's you'll be able to check off the list before lunchtime.
I hope this helps, Andrea. If you have any other questions before your trip in a few weeks, I'd love for you to come back and
ask me.
Have fun!
