Hey there, Lindsey! Welcome to planDisney.
My family had an epic summer vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort last month! We had a blast riding our favorite attractions, eating all the snacks, and soaking in all the magic. I'm so excited to see you're going to be enjoying it all in just a few weeks!
Arriving early is more important than ever during the phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort. Our strategy was to enjoy the most popular attractions before the crowds and mid-day heat arrived OR to cram in tons of non-headliner attractions in the first 90 minutes. Planning to arrive early is a great way to squeeze in extra fun.
Parking lots open 45-60 minutes before each theme park's official opening time. My family stayed at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel and were usually on the first or second bus of the day, and we saw cars stopped at the parking booths waiting to be let in as we arrived. At Magic Kingdom Park, I would plan to arrive at the Transportation & Ticket Center around 45 minutes in advance of park opening (maybe a little earlier). Trams are not currently running, so you'll need a little extra time to walk from your parking spot to the launch for the ferry boat, monorail, and bus platform. Depending on the day, buses may be running from Transportation & Ticket Center to Magic Kingdom Park, and I've heard they are actually the fastest mode of travel. In my experience, the monorail has the longest wait, but the modes of transit from the Transportation & Ticket Center to Magic Kingdom Park will all begin running when the parking lots open.
