What time do we need to be off the ship on the last day?

Ahoy there, Kaileigh. Thanks for taking the time to sail by planDisney again with another question. Welcome back!

I’m so happy to see you will be sailing aboard a Disney cruise soon! I‘m sure you and your family are excited as you countdown to Embarkation Day. With so many fun activities onboard for the entire family, I hope you’ll also find time for some rest and relaxation.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Debarkation day is a gloomy day for our family, and my kids get teary-eyed when they have to say goodbye to all the friends they’ve gotten to know at the Youth Clubs.

Disney Cruise Line asks that Guests vacate their staterooms on the last day by 8 AM. This gives stateroom stewards enough time to clean the rooms and prepare for the next sailing. If you have time to spare and not in a time crunch to leave the ship, be sure to partake in a leisurely sit-down breakfast at the same rotational dining restaurant where you had dinner the evening before. Your same friendly dining room team will be there to serve your debarkation breakfast. The last day’s breakfast schedule correlates to your dinner seating; early seating’s breakfast is served at 6:45 AM, while late seating is usually served breakfast around 8 AM.

The debarkation process is typically complete by around 9:30 AM, depending on how full the sailing is; most Guests will have already gotten off the ship by this time. If you utilize the luggage service and placed your bags outside your stateroom the night before debarkation day, you’ll be assigned a Disney character on your luggage tags. Be sure to listen for announcements for your debarkation group based on the Disney character so that you can fetch your bags at the terminal after you disembark.

Just remember, your debarkation day is someone else’s embarkation day. The crew will be busy making sure the ship is in “practically perfect” shape for the next group of excited sailors, so please be mindful if you wish to linger a bit longer.

One thing we do while we’re still on the cruise is to book a Placeholder Reservation with a small deposit. The Placeholder Reservation is an open-ended reservation for a future cruise within 24 months at a 10% savings off prevailing rates on Disney Cruise Line website. For us, it’s easier to get back to reality knowing we have another Disney Cruise Line sailing in the near future.

If you have more trip-planning questions, please feel free to sail by planDisney again.

Hope to SEA ya real soon,
    Kiki

Meet the Panelist: Kiki, California

Greetings! I have been fascinated by the magic of Disney since I was a little girl; now that I am a mother of two, I love watching my children experience Disney Parks through their own eyes. I am also surrounded by fellow Disney-loving nurse friends whom I enjoy quick adults-only Disneyland Resort escapes or Disney Cruise Line voyages with. Whether you are planning your once-in-a-lifetime family trip or a short adults-only getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, I am here to help!
