Is there a time line that tells us first timers when to book everything? park days, dining, experiences, (anything else I don't know about!??) and tips or videos on genie plus? I heard you have to start booking at 6am any princess related suggestions?

Hello Janine and welcome to planDisney!

I’m so excited to hEAR that you’ll be visiting the Walt Disney World Resort for the first time in May. How exciting! There isn’t anything quite like walking down Main Street, U.S.A. toward Cinderella Castle. I hope you love it!

Janine, just as Cinderella had her Fairy Godmother, we are hEAR to help in your planning. Let’s begin by talking about park days. Currently all guests (in addition to your valid theme park ticket) are required to hold a Disney Park Pass reservation. These complimentary theme park reservations can easily be made through your My Disney Experience account once your vacation package or tickets are linked. You don’t need to wait for a specific day to secure your Disney Park Pass reservations, so if you have an idea of where you’d like to begin each day, I encourage you to start planning!

Now, while you can make your theme park reservations now, you will want to remember the number 60 because 60 days before check-in (or before the date of your visit) you can begin making advanced dining reservations. If you’re also a Disney Resorts Collection hotel guest, you can make all reservations for the length of your stay (up to 10 days) at one time. Since it’s your first visit, I encourage you to spend some time browsing through the dining options HERE. Reservations do open up at approximately 5:45 AM, so if there is a “must-do” on your list, the best chance of getting a table would be to book early. If you need recommendations or have questions, please come on back to planDisney. My fellow panelists and I love dining around the Walt Disney World Resort.

Finally, Janine, let’s touch on Disney Genie. I like to think of this new rollout as three different services under one umbrella. Disney Genie is a complimentary companion to your My Disney Experience Mobile App and helps guide your day (with the suggestions you give it). Disney Genie+ is a paid upgrade of $15 per person per day that allows you Lightning Lane access to a variety of attractions across all four theme parks. Two a la carte Lightning Lanes are also available for separate purchase per park. You can take advantage of all of these, none of these or any combination that best fits your vision of being in the parks.

Janine, I hope this helps jump-start your planning process. If you have any additional questions (including Princess ideas), please come on back to planDisney!

    Wishing you a Magical trip,
    Lauren
