What time will the fireworks be on New Years Eve and where can we watch them out of the park. We are flying in New year evening doing the Disneyworld parks on 2nd and 3rd.

Hey there ByVonda and welcome to planDisney!

You've certainly chosen one of the most popular times of the year for holiday hordes of folks to descend upon Walt Disney World Resort, and I'm always in awe of how busy it can get in the theme parks on New Year's Eve as everyone crowds in tight to enjoy all of the festivities. From the sounds of it, you're waiting until after all of that late-night revelry has passed before visiting the theme parks, which is personally the way I'd plan my trip to ring in the New Year! I took a look at the current showtimes on the Hours & Events Calendar for December 31, 2024 and here's what you can expect so far:

    • On New Year's Eve you can expect most folks looking for a fun, music-driven party atmosphere to be heading to EPCOT in order to view the fireworks that evening. Luminous The Symphony of Us is currently scheduled for 6:30 P.M. and lasts for about 17 minutes; based on my observations, you can expect folks already staking out their spots and camping out along the edges of the World Showcase Lagoon hours in advance - some of them choosing to remain in their spot all the way through the end of the evening. Cheers to the New Year: A Sparkling Celebration is scheduled for 11:54 P.M. with pyrotechnics being set off from each of the countries in the chronological order in which they celebrate the New Year with a countdown at midnight, followed by massive fireworks in the skies above lasting for about another minute and a half afterward. You might be able to spot these from around Disney's BoardWalk if you can find a spot on one of the bridges with a clear view to see the higher bursts!
    • Over at Magic Kingdom Park, Fantasy In The Sky Fireworks are currently scheduled to take place at both 6:30 P.M. and 11:50 P.M. and this show lasts for about 10 minutes in total, making it the longest one for guests to enjoy by far! The Disney Resort Hotels surrounding the Seven Seas Lagoon such as Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa or Disney's Polynesian Village Resort will have many families out on their shores but be aware that this may be restricted to those guests actually staying there on such a popular evening, but I've also observed folks watching fireworks from around the Transportation and Ticket Center. There's also a way to watch these fireworks from atop Disney's Contemporary Resort at Tiana's New Year's Adventure at California Grill, but this also comes with a $799 price tag for this very exclusive event!
    • Guests choosing to spend their evening at Disney's Hollywood Studios may find the pyrotechnics to be noticeably smaller compared to these shows and primarily found bursting above Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway for a minute following a countdown led by a DJ. Last year's celebrations also featured custom projections and lasers, though this may be a bit brief for anyone looking to watch this from outside.
I hope this helps, ByVonda - as an alternative, see whether you can make a reservation for any rooftop dining locations like Toledo or Topolino's Terrace that evening for the chance to get some great views!

Here's to celebrating the New Year in style!
