Hi Lindsey!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question - I'm happy to help!
Watercraft service between
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground, and
Disney’s Contemporary Resort (known as the Blue Flag route) typically operates between 3:00 PM and 10:45 PM, according to the signage on the boat dock. This is a great option if you’re planning an afternoon or evening exploring these beautiful resorts, enjoying dining options, or simply taking in the views across Bay Lake.
If you’re looking to get to the Contemporary Resort earlier in the day, there’s a magical workaround! You can take the Red Flag watercraft from Disney’s Wilderness Lodge to
Magic Kingdom Park. This route begins service 30 minutes before Magic Kingdom opens and continues until 30 minutes after the park closes. Once you arrive at Magic Kingdom, it’s just a short hop onto the
Walt Disney World Monorail, which will take you directly to the Contemporary Resort. This route offers a scenic and fun way to travel between the resorts, with the added bonus of a quick stop at the Magic Kingdom.
One of my favorite things to do when visiting Disney’s Contemporary Resort is dining at
Steakhouse 71. There’s an appetizer on the menu that I can’t get enough of! The Bacon and Eggs appetizer, though it might sound like a breakfast dish, is actually featured on the lunch and dinner menus. The star is the maple-lacquered pork belly, served with a soft-poached egg and cheddar grits. As a Southern girl, this dish speaks to my heart! It’s seriously SO GOOD, and a must-do on my Disney vacations. If you've ever seen the
Friends episode where "Joey doesn't share food!", that would be me with this dish in front of me.
Whether you’re looking for a convenient way to hop between resorts or a magical journey to the park, Disney’s watercraft transportation makes it easy! As Peter Pan might say, “Second star to the right and straight on till morning” - or in this case, just follow the flags and enjoy the ride!
