Hi Mark! Welcome to planDisney.
As a former Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passholder, your question speaks to me. My family has a vacation coming up in the next couple of months, and I've got my fingers and my toes crossed that Annual Passes become available again before our visit.
As you know, sales of Annual Passes are currently on hold as part of the
phased reopening of the Walt Disney World Resort. At this time, we don't know if or when Annual Pass sales might resume. I recommend reading the
Disney Parks Blog and following the Walt Disney World Resort on social media for the most up-to-date news. I'm like Princess Belle when it comes to Disney news sources - I have to read it all!
If you purchase
theme park tickets for your visit, and Annual Pass sales do resume, you may be able to pay the difference between what you paid for your tickets and the cost of an Annual Pass, allowing you to upgrade to an Annual Pass. That's how things worked in the past (although keep in mind that some ticket types are not "upgradable"), but I can't guarantee that will be how it works in the future. If Annual Pass sales resume, there should be an FAQ page that answers that question, as there will be lots of us hoping to do just that!
I'm sprinkling pixie dust on both of us that we're able to join the Annual Passholder family soon. In the meantime, keep checking the
Special Offers page to see if any new deals or discounts are released that might apply to your upcoming vacation.
Thanks for stopping by today! As you continue to plan and dream about your visit, please come back and see us again if you have any further questions.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
